The Toulouse Airport began construction in the late 1930's, was then occupied by Germany in the second world war in 1942. Less than 10 years later, the airport opened as a public airport serving commercial passengers. In 1953 about 27,000 passengers were serviced by the airport. Today over 6 million passengers use the Toulouse facility both coming and going.
Toulouse Airport Car Rental and Driving Directions to Toulouse.....
Car Rental companies at the Toulouse Airport include Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, National and Sixt. Each car rental company has a desk situated on the ground level of the Arrivals area between both Hall A and Hall B. Each desk is situated near the exit wall. Sixt occupies theirs on the right-hand side of the area (on your way out of the building) and the rest are together in Hall C. Avis and Budget actually share a desk in the Hall C.
The actual cars are parked on the premises a 10-minute walk from the terminal. You may walk to the rental cars, or you may wait for a free shuttle to the car rental area. The shuttles run every few minutes back and forth from the car rental area to the terminal building.
Most folks who land into the Toulouse Airport are eventually heading to Toulouse as their end destination. When leaving the Toulouse Airport you travel South on either Rue Jean Darby or the road directly in front of the terminal. Which road you take depends on which rental car company you have chosen, as rental car company's cars are parked at different places of the Toulouse facility. Either way, you will soon taxi around a traffic circle that will have a little green sign pointing you to Toulouse. This will actually be an exit onto A621. Continue to watch for green signs to on the median between the divided highway.
After driving about 2 km, you will exit in a circle right towards the Toulouse City Centre. Watch for overhead green signs during this process. After the exit you will pick back up on A621. You will soon pass over the Garonne River. Soon you will need to watch for blue overhead signs directing you to exit your rental car again onto E9/E72 towards the Toulouse Centre. After that exit, stay to the right as you will exit again within 1 km. Watch for the green overhead sign and take the exit. After the exit you will travel between a couple of walls up a slight hill. Stay right and watch for signs. The road will bend around back to the East soon and you merge in with other traffic. You will have a small body of water to your left and then you will take a slight right onto the Allée de Brienne. Travel to the city center from here. Signs will be posted well.
When returning your rental vehicle, you may want to re-fuel before returning. There are a few service stations, but each that we know of requires that you make an exit off the main returning roads. So, we recommend that you re-fuel in Toulouse, or just outside of Toulouse.
Toulouse Airport Amenities.....
There are quite a few dining opportunities in the Toulouse Airport. These would include sit-down restaurants such as 8-Ceil and Paul in the public areas, and also a Taste-n-Fly sandwich shop in the travelers area. There are also the usual banks and currency exchanges scattered throughout the facility and the typical shopping areas as well.
Hotels Near the Toulouse Airport.....
Residence Aerel Appart Hotel - This may be the best value of the two or three hotels that sit very near the Toulouse Airport. It is a very short distance from the airport terminal. In fact, if your luggage has wheels you could easily walk there. If not, car parking fees are cheaper at the hotel than they are at the airport - so driving to the hotel might be a good option. There aren't a lot of frills here, just a basic place to stay. But by most accounts it is comfortable and clean. Breakfast costs € 6.50 per person per night. With free Wi-Fi, faxing and air-conditioning this place will suffice your basic needs near the Toulouse Airport. Nightly stays start around 50 Euros and go up from there. To get to this hotel, you will exit the area as above. Pass thru the larger traffic circle and immediately exit on a very narrow road to the right. Continue down that little "path" until you see the hotel on the left-hand side of the road. The Radisson (below) is on the same side of the little road a little further down.
Radisson Blu Hotel - This one is a little nicer - probably one of the nicer hotels in all of Blagnac. By almost all accounts this place has very clean, comfortable and modern rooms. A sauna, jacuzzi and small gym sit right over the top of an outdoor garden area that sits in the center of the hotel facility. Probably the most well-received part of this hotel is the breakfast. There's a very nice buffet with plenty of meats, breads and fruit complete with an omelet station that cooks to order.
Car Rental Types Available at the Toulouse Airport.....
Just about all types of vehicles are available at the Toulouse Airport. These would include all the "usuals" such as SUV's, economy cars, standard cars, minivans and minibuses, 7-passenger vans, luxury cars and the like. Of course we always recommend that you reserve your rental early to make sure that you receive the car that you want. Also, look into the add-ons such as GPS's and children's car seats. These can often be purchased at a reasonable price as sometimes they are sold as deals to entice you to larger, more expensive rentals.
Finally, thank you so much for visiting our site. We certainly hope that you learned something here and that your Toulouse Airport Car rental will be a successful one!
