Many folks recommend (and for many people rightly so) that one shouldn't rent a car in Switzerland. With a pretty extensive public train system, there are few reasons to need an automobile. Taking a train does have many advantages in Switzerland, but the constant need to move baggage around, waiting for trains, and being limited to see ALL of the countryside, makes the choice at least somewhat controversial.
Businessmen and women need greater control to access various points near the airport than a train will often afford. A train (or a rental car) is not for everyone. Do your research and make sure that, if you do make a mistake, it won't be from lack of due diligence.
It is important to remember that in Europe, rental car companies are independent of each other in other countries. For example, a Sixt Hungary rental car is of a different owner than a Sixt France car. They are not connected in terms of ownership at all. So, if you're renting a car from France and driving to Hungary, a different owner, at his expense will have to drive the car back to France. This cost is then passed on to you, the renter.
Most airports and even many train stations offer more than one type of vehicle. Generally, you may have SUV's, minivans, compacts, and economy cars from which to choose. When you use our booking engine, you will see what is available to you to travel Switzerland. Complete costs will also be shown to you, for you to choose the best available value.
