Molde Airport Car Rental

Molde Airport Basics.....

Molde Airport (MOL) serves the district of Romsdal which includes Molde.  The airport has over 400,000 passengers passing through the airport on a yearly basis.  There are continual upgrades and in 2005 it received International status, the runway extended in 2008 and two duty free shops were added for passenger convenience.

The city of Molde is part of the region of Romsda on the Romsdal Peninsula. The Driva and Rauma rivers are where you can find sea trout, salmon and sea char. Fishing is quite popular in all bodies of water including the fjords. Also, if you have the urge to glacier base jump, ice climb, or rock climb, you have the opportunity here. Also, during the winter, skiing both downhill and cross country are very popular. There are many historical landmarks like the Bremsnes Cave and the Kvernes Stave Church.

Molde Airport Car Rental.....

Renting a car is a smart choice to give you the opportunity to see everything. Car rental agencies at the airport include Hertz, Avis, Europcar, RentaWreck and Sixt Car Rental.  Each company stores their vehicles in the airport area, so there's no need of a shuttle somewhere to pick up your car.

Getting to the city of Molde isn't difficult, and like most of the major cities in Norway, they are in very close proximity to the airports.  This is also the case for Molde.  It's a quick 6 km or at the most, a 20 minute drive from the Molde Airport.

After you pick up your car, you'll want to head out of the airport to get onto Fannestrandvegen/E39.  You want to make your way around the turning circle exiting on the third turnoff onto Fannestrandvegen/E39.  You're going to pass through one traffic circle and on the second you want to take the third exit continuing on Fannestrandvegen/E39.  As you are winding around, you'll see a AMFI building.  Follow this road for another 1.1km.  You'll approach another traffic circle.  This time take the second exit onto Storgata/Fv400.  To the right you'll see a very nice little park between streets and as you turn onto Storgata, you'll be in town.

Getting back to the airport, you'll just want to reverse the directions above.  But remember that you'll also want to refuel before returning the car to the airport.  Fortunately, there's a gas service staion near the Molde Airport.  The Shell gas station is on the right-hand side of the road (If you're traveling from Molde to the Airport) about 1 km from the airport.  You can't miss it, as it sits right on the road, next to a automobile dealership.

Molde Airport Amenities.....

At the airport there are 2 duty free shops, cafe and kiosk that you can get a variety of meals, snacks, personal items, magazines and souvenirs.  There's also a bar for beer, drinks and wireless Internet is free and available throughout the airport

 Rental Car Driving Attractions.....

Whatever you do in Norway (it doesn't seem to matter what part of Norway), the scenery can be breathtaking.  By anyone's standard, Norway has to be one of the most beautiful countries on the planet.  Having a Molde Airport rental car makes it possible for you to experience some of that beauty.

Trollkirka is a marble grotto that leads to an underground waterfall.  Trollveggen is a steep and tall overhanging mountain face that has very challenging hiking trails.  In fact, this is one of Europe's tallest vertical mountains.  You can also go visit Mardalsfossen, Northern Europe's highest waterfall and amazingly the 4th highest on the planet.  The waterfall is an incredible 655m.  You can also visit the Romsel Museum which is among Norway's biggest folk museum.

As in all of Norway, many festivals fill the schedule throughout the year. You have the Moldejazz Festival (See Picture Above),  Bjørnson Festival, as well as many other smaller festivals. Molde is famous for many notable football players as well as cross country, alpine skiers and ski jumpers.

Whatever you choose to do, thanks for using  We do appreciate it, and we hope that you enjoy your travels in Molde!
