Memmingen Airport (FMM) is a very small airport. Located about 4 km from the city and also only 100 km from Munich, it has become a low cost option instead of flying into the Munich airport. It's also advertised as Munich West Airport for this reason. Memmingen is a Bavarian town in the Swabia Region of Germany. The Iller river is located to the west of the city which marks the border between Wurttemberg and Baden. The city has 42,000 residents.
Memmingen Airport Rental Cars and Driving Guide.....
Discover the region by car. Rental companies include Hertz, Sixt and Europcar. Each of the car rental companies' agents are available in the arrivals area of the terminal, just to the right of the exits as you leave the airport terminal. Cars are parked in the Meitwagen (Car Rental Center), directly across from the terminal, less than 100m away from the terminal.
To get to the city of Memmingen, expect about a 7 km drive from Memmingen and the following directions are to St Josef Cathedral. You can pretty much go anywhere once in town, but this will help you find one of the attractions of the city.
After picking your car up head out of the airport toward Schleifweg, you will want to follow this road along and it will lead you make a right turn and then a left turn to stay on the road. Keep going and Schleifweg turns into Augsburger Straße/MM17. Then you want to make a left on August-Hederer-Straße. There will be a big building on the right side of the road as you turn. You will be driving through a residential area of town and you'll want to make a sharp right onto Mühlenweg. You will arrive at another intersection and turn left onto Tiroler Ring/ST2009. You're going to keep following this road for 2.3 km. Tiroler Ring/ST2009 turns into Pulvermühlstraße/B300. You are going to continue along on this road for another 1.2 km. Then make a right onto Bismarckstraße. After entering the turning circle, take the second exit to St.-Josefs-Kirchplatz. Shortly after the circle make a right onto Josef-Schmid-Weg and you will have arrived.
To get to Munich from the Memmingen airport, you will simply want to get on the 96 Motorway to Munich. This means head out of the airport area toward Schleifweg Road and stay on it. It will soon turn in to MM17, or Augsburger Straße. After a few hundred meters, turn right on Künersberger Straße until you come to a traffic circle. Stay right on the circle and get on the 96 Motorway, heading East for a little over 100 km until you reach the Munich area. Remember to re-fuel your rental car before returning.

The airport is small and has mostly the basics while waiting for your fight. Not really any shopping or dining except a cafe for snacks and light meals as well as airport shopping for travel items.

You have a complimentary breakfast at the 2 restaurants that also serves lunch and dinner. The restaurant serves gourmet meals. The property has a spa with a pool and sauna as well as a menu of treatments for you. Although in room Internet will cost after the first hour, Wi-Fi throughout public areas are free.
