Marseille Airport Car Rental

Marseille Airport Basics.....

The Marseille Airport currently ranks as the 5th largest airport in terms of passenger count.  Total passenger count for 2010 totaled around 7 million folks, with destinations such as Ataturk and Athens via Air France and Stansted via RyanAir.  Other airlines offering services either to or from the Marseilles Airport include Easyjet and Brussels Airline.

Marseille Airport Car Rental.....

Car Rental companies situated at the Marseille Airport include Avis, National, Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Sixt.  Each company has been there for years and should offer you a good rental car at a competitive price.  Most (if not all) of these rental companies will offer pickup services from 7 am to 11:30 pm.  Drop-off services are typically available 24 hours per day, as they each have key-boxes to leave your rental car keys upon returning.

After picking up your bags and exiting the front of the terminal, car rental companies will be located in a parking area in front (and towards the right) of the terminal.  You will easily see the car rental companies with their logos on their small car rental booths.

Most folks landing at the Marseille Airport are traveling to the city of Marseille via rental car.  To do so, after picking up your rental car, you will travel out, and thru, the first traffic circle.  A simple green sign next to the traffic circle will say Toutes Directions, meaning All directions.  Follow the arrow in the direction that this signs points to and travel toward D20.  Soon watch for another group of green signs directing you to the city of Marseille, then breaking off to the right, traveling onto D20 towards Marseille.  Travel about 2.5 km, then ramping onto D9 (you actually won't have to do anything, as you will automatically merge into D9).  Continue on for about 1.7 km and merge onto D113 (watch for green signs overhead) via the exit.  Continue on for another 1.5 km (or thereabouts) and merge onto the A7, via a left-hand ramp (watch for blue signs overhead).  Travel about 1.5 to 2 km and take the A55 Exit towards Marseille, and drive for about 13 - 14 km on A55 into the city center.

When returning your rental car back to the airport, you will most likely want to re-fuel your rental car.  There is a Total Service Station to fill your tank with petrol on the left-hand side of the road within a couple hundred meters of the terminal.  As you approach the terminal with your rental car, you will see the fueling station fairly easily.

Hotels Near the Marseille Airport.....

Etap Hotel Marseille Provence - This is a fairly low-budget hotel very close to the Marseille terminal.  With a price well under $100, you shouldn't expect much.  But you will get a decent night's sleep at a hotel that you can actually walk to.  If you don't want to walk, stay left at the traffic circle that exits the airport area and watch on the right hand's side for a short road that will take you right to it.  The Wi-Fi is fairly inexpensive and the breakfast is decent.  All in all, a pretty good value.

Best Western Marseilles Airport Hotel - Just as close is this Best Western.  The problem is that it's about twice the price per night.  Free Wi-Fi and a pretty clean room make this hotel at least one to consider.  At either location (this one or the Etap above), you can save a little money by turning in your rental car the night before your departure and walking to the terminal the morning of the flight out of the Marseille.  The breakfast here at the Best Western is generally regarded as a little better food than that of the Etap, but you're going to pay for it.

Types of Rental Vehicles Available at the Marseille Airport.....

Our most popular car rental companies that we deal with at the Marseille Airport are Avis Europe and Budget.  Both seemingly continue to offer us the best car at the best price.  Having said that, various car rental types exist at the Marseille.  From very small economy cars to the larger SUV, you'll most likely find what you're looking for.  Prices at the Marseille Airport are generally fairly expensive.  In fact, it's difficult to find a vehicle for less than $100 per day - and that's for the economy type.  Luxury / Mercedes vehicles may cost in excess of $300 per day.  Minivans are also available at the Marseille Airport, and are expensive as well.  Figure at least $200 per day when hiring a minivan from the Marseille Airport.

Finally, we want to thank you for visiting our site.  Hopefully, you've learned a little more about the Marseille Airport and the rental cars at the facility.
