Luebeck Airport Car Rental
Lübeck Blankensee Airport (LBC) is located 8 km outside of Lubeck and also 55 km from Hamburg. It's considered Hamburg's second airport, right behind the Hamburg Airport. Also, Lubeck is the second biggest city in north Germany and is still a major shipping port on the Baltic Sea. It has a population of around 250,000. 
The Luebeck Airport offers car rental services thru both Sixt and Hertz Rental Company. Both car rental companies have desks situated in the arrivals area of the airport. Speak with your car rental agent at the corresponding desk and inquire as to the exact location of your rental vehicle (all rental cars are located on the Luebeck Airport premises, so a shuttle won't be necessary).
To get to Luebeck, you should expect an 8 km from the airport and the drive will take about 15 to 20 minutes to get into town. You will leave via airport road via the K8 and hop on the 207 heading North. After about 4.5 km on B207, you will veer right on L92 and drive about 1.5 km to the town of Luebeck.
If you're driving to Hamburg from the Lübeck Airport, you will exit the same way, but travel South on 207. Drive about 2.5 km. Go left to merge into A20. After about 10 km on A20, you will exit on A1 towards the Hamburg/Reinfeld area. Travel about 45 km South until you get to exit 31, to A24 into Hamburg. Remember to re-fuel before returning your rental vehicle. 
The airport has a few places to shop and eat such as the Pressezentrum Bistro, Pressezentrum Lübeck and the Take & Off Travel Shop. This is a smaller airport, so don't expect too much. This is really a no-frills airport, but isn't too bad at what it is supposed to do - put bodies on, and take bodies off of airplanes.
Hotel Thormählen - This hotel is family run in the country. The rooms have sitting areas, modern bathrooms, private deer enclosures and scenic views of the Elbe Lubeck Canal. They also offer free Wi-Fi for the first 15 minutes for each guest. The restaurant dishes up local foods including fine seasonal game. Most of the menu is from the Schleswig Holstein area.
Ringhotel Friederikenhof - This hotel offers a relaxing atmosphere on the Elbe Lubeck canal. You can see the hotel garden and the churches steeples from your cozy room. You are close to all the attraction found in Lubeck and the surrounding region. The restaurant serves international and regional selections.
Hotel Kaiserhof - It's situated in two historical buildings that have been renovated and each room has, antique décor, balconies, high windows and ceilings and well furnished. The spa has a sauna and pool as well as a full menu of services including massage. Breakfast is served every morning with a buffet breakfast available and dinner consisting of international and Holstein dishes. In good weather you can enjoy yourself out on the terrace.
Visiting the Luebeck area you will find that the town architecture is mostly Medieval and the town's seven churches with beautiful and awe inspiring steeples.
