Leipzig Airport Car Rentals and Destination Guide.....
Car Rental companies situated within the Leipzig Airport include Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. Each company has a presence in the arrivals area of the terminal, not far from the exit. Pick up your luggage, and head out towards the front exit and you won't miss the car rental desks. They sit across from a little food service area called Marché Bar, Terminal B, ground floor.
Once you speak to your car rental agent, you will inquire of the location of parked your rental car. Your car will sit on the premises, so there will be no need of a shuttle service somewhere away from the airport area.
The city of Leipzig is approximately 22 km from the airport and takes around 20 -30 minutes by rental car. After picking up the rental car, head out on Flughafenallee. You're going to drive on this road for a little less than a kilometer and will also go through one turning circle. After going through the turning circle, Flughafenallee turns into S8a. Follow this road for another 2.1 km. Then you need to merge to the right to get on A14 going to Dresden/Leipzig. Follow A14 for around 8.7 km.
Next, you will need to take exit 23-Leipzig-Mitte for B2 toward Wittenberg/Bad Düben/Delitzsch. There will be a fork and you want to keep to the right and merge Maximilianallee/B2. Stay on this road for 6.7 km. Then make a left on Am Gothischen Bad/Rackwitzer Straße/B2 and then a right on Brandenburger Straße/B2/B6/B87. Continue on this road and you will be in the center of the city.
To return your rental vehicle back to the airport, you will most likely head back on B2, then A14 as well. Notice that the blue signs overhead will direct you to the Halle Airport - remember that the Leipzig and the Halle Airport are one and the same. Try to re-fuel before returning your rental car. Take note if you see any petrol stations as you exit the airport premises or within a couple of km of the airport. However, if there are none, you may be better off filling up in Leipzig, rather than waiting too long.

Leipzig Airport Car Rental Types.....
Minivans, SUVs, and luxury rental vehicles are all awaiting you at the Leipzig Airport. Each type of vehicle has its own merits, so consider the number of seats needed, storage needed, transmission type (remember that most car rental areas in Europe rent more manual transmissions than automatic), and type of fuel that you prefer. Also remember that diesel engines will garner a little better fuel mileage than gasoline, however diesel generally costs a little more. Also consider reserving a GPS when booking your rental car. This is especially something to consider if you've not been thru the Leipzig area before.
