The Foggia “Gino Lisa” Airport is a very small airport servicing the nearby town of Foggia and the surrounding region. There are 33 flights coming in and going from just small aircraft. Foggia is a city in the province of Puglia. It is well known as the “granary of Italy” because of it's agricultural history. The few industries present are mostly devoted to food processing. Finding your way to and from Foggia is pretty much a straight shot from the airport. Once you do get into the city though it can be a little more complicated with many street and direction changes in only a short time if you want to reach the center of the city. With all cities in Italy, it's a great idea to rent a car with a GPS function to make it a lot easier on yourself.
The center of town is only 3.8km or 10 minutes driving time from the airport. Its really such a small airport that you're not going to have a difficult time finding the main road to Foggia. You'll want to exit the airport and turn left on Viale degli Aviatori/SP105. It's a two lane rural road that you'll follow for 2.5km. This will take you right into the city limits. There are many businesses big and small, restaurants and gas stations.
You'll reach Viale Ofanto and you'll want to make a left turn here. It will have street lights and before you reach the intersection, there will be signs to the right. There's a sign for bingo directing you straight ahead, but you'll want to turn left after the sign at the intersection. Follow Viale Ofanto and there will be a large stadium to the left. Go approximately 290m and you'll want to want to make a right on Via Lamarmora. Keep going straight. There will be a busy and confusing intersection and you'll want to just keep straight ahead. This road will become Via Tiro a Segno, a one way road after about 100m. Be careful because it's pretty congested when you get to this part of the city.
You'll continue through some intersections. Turn Left on Vico Pane. Be cautious because the next street to the right is Vico Penne. Then you'll want to take a quick right on Via Meridiana. It seems as you get deeper into the city, the streets get narrower. You're going to pass through two cross streets before you'll turn left on Via Nicola Parisi. Follow this road for around 200 meters and you'll reach a turning circle. Follow it around and get on Piazza 20 Settembre.
To get back to the airport from Foggia, you will want to find Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi toward Via Luciano Mele which turns into Via Vittime Civili. Then make a left on Viale Ofanto and turn right at Viale degli Aviatori/SP105. At this point, you can easily make your way back.
As mentioned above, there are several gas fueling stations near the airport on Viale Degli Aviatori. In particular, there is an Esso fueling station about 1 km North of the Gino Lisa Airport exit/entrance. Getting in and out of the fueling station is easy enough.
The airport has some services to make you comfortable while your waiting for your flight. It has a bar, bank and probably the most important, has Wi-Fi so you can stay connected to your world while you wait. 
There aren't many towns with large populations near the Foggia Airport - except for the city of Foggia itself. However, some folks land into the Gino Lisa with the intent of driving to a nearby town other than Foggia. The hotel receives quite a few positive reviews in terms of the value that it provides.
With only two different car rental companies available at the airport, you may find that the types of cars available for rent are limited as well.
