Billund Airport Car Rental

Billund Airport Basics.....

The Billund Airport is West Denmark's busiest airport - serving over 2 million passengers per year (just a little more than half of the 3.5 million capacity designed by the Airport).  A large amount of glass makes the airport very bright and clean-looking.  The airport is currently the 2nd largest airport in all of Denmark.

Inside the Billund Terminal

Billund Airport Car Rental.....

There are five car rental companies occupying service space at the Billund Airport.  These include Sixt, Hertz, Europcar, Budget and Avis.  Each company has an agency situated in the arrivals area of level 1 - quite near the entrance/exit of the airport.  You will find each of them lined up along the same wall.

Vehicles are situated outside of the terminal - on the airport premises.  After speaking with the agent and walking out of the front of the terminal, you will see a huge car park directly across from the terminal.  First, you will want to ask the rental agent of the exact location of the vehicle, but generally, all rental cars are parked within this large car park.  Simply walk across the road and access your vehicle.

Billund Airport to Legoland Directions.....

Thousands of folks flock to the Legoland theme park every year - after flying in to the Billund Airport.  Getting there is very easy.  First get in your rental and drive out of the airport facility, taxiing around the North side of the airport.  As you exit, you will immediately approach a traffic circle.  At this point, you will see a white sign to the right with different destinations and routes.  One of those destinations on the sign is Legoland.  It will suggest that you take the fourth exit that shoots off from the traffic circle.  Do so and you will be on Bastlundvej traveling South on a 1.5 mile drive on this road.  At the end of Bastlundvej you will encounter another traffic circle, and you should turn left.  At this point, watch for parking signs.  The total drive should be done in less than 5 minutes.

Billund Airport to Aarhus.....

Getting out of the airport and traveling to Aarhus is easy as well.  Simply drive out as above, and again, notice the white sign at the first traffic circle directing you to Horsens this time (you will travel to the Horsens area first to eventually get to Aarhus).  Take the 2nd exit at the traffic circle to get on 30 towards Give.  Drive about 14 km and merge onto 18 towards Horsens.  Drive for about another 30 km, then turn left onto E45 and drive for another 36 km into the city.

Billund Airport Car Rental Return.....

Bringing your rental car back to the airport should be as easy as it was to leave the airport.  Simply drive into the airport area and circle in front of the terminal, follow the signs and park your vehicle back where you picked it up from.  If it was in the garage, then you'll want to take it back there.  Make sure that you understand the terms, and hand over the keys.  Each car rental company will allow an after-hours return, and there will be a drop-box location to leave you keys - if it is an after-hours return.

Gas Stations Near the Billund Airport.....

Fortunately, there is a gas station (petrol station) for those bringing their rental car back to the Billund Airport.  There is a 123 Gas Service Station, placed conveniently on the right-hand side of the road - just as you enter the area.  They accept Visa, MasterCard, Eurocard, Diners, Accept Card, and Statoil as payment methods and their phone number is +45 80 20 01 23.

Other Billund Airport Car Rental Considerations.....

In terms of renting a vehicle in Western Denmark, there are a couple of other choices.  There is another option in Vejle.  The rental there is actually situated on Toldbodvej 13, right in downtown Vejle.  In Horsens, you will find a rental car company located on Sonderbrogade 44, Horsens.  This is also a downtown location, about 2 blocks South of the Vitus Berings Park.  For either of these two locations, prices will probably be a little higher and options will be fewer.  If you don't mind the drive into Western Denmark, we generally recommend that you hire your car at the Billund Airport.

Vehicles generally available at the airport will be the usuals - economy cars, sedans, minis.  But you will also find luxury cars, minivans and exotic cars available at times.  Simply run our booking request above and see what is available at any given time.

Finally, thank so much for visiting our site.  We hope you learned a little about renting a vehicle at the Billund Airport!!
