Reus Airport Basics.....
Catalonia is an autonomous community in the Spanish Kingdom. Within Catalonia, and servicing Barcelona (automobile driving time from the Reus airport to Barcelona takes about one hour and 20 minutes), the Reus Airport sits. The Reus airport primarily services tourists - many headed for beach resorts like Cambrils and Salou.
The facility is about two or three km's south and east of Reus and about 12 to 14 km's from the middle of Tarragona. Since Ryanair began using Reus as a base airport in 2008, the passenger count has increased to well over 1 million per year.
Ryanair is a major player in terms of passenger movement at the Reus Airport, as they offer flights to Birmingham International, Bristol, Frankfurt - Hahn, Glasgow - Prestwick, and Liverpool among others. Jetair Fly offers flights to Girona - Costa Brava and Brusalas currently.
Passenger counts actually got close to 1.8 million in 2009, but because of economic downturns, numbers have dropped off somewhat.
Reus Airport Car Rental.....
The Reus Airport currently has five rental car companies doing businesss within the facility. These include AurigaCrown, Avis, Europcar, Goldcar and Hertz. All are experienced car hire companies, and have been on location for some time.
Coming out of the Reus airport is not too difficult. To get to Reus, head Southwest thru the round-a-bout towards the Avinguda de Tarragona and turn right at the 'T'. Turning right, you will travel down a two-lane highway towards the city of Reus.
Keep right at the next round-a-bout. Go thru the round-a-bout, and merge right on N-420a. A small red sign will be posted directing you to Reus. If you've ever traveled in rural areas of Spain, you know that you shouldn't expect large overhead signs. Instead, look for smaller signs placed near the road and medians. Nevertheless, you should find yourself on Avinguda De Tarroagona into the city of Reus. It is on this road (Avinguda De Tarragona) that you should re-fuel before bringing your rental car back to the airport.
Driving in and around the Reus area is not too difficult, especially compared against Barcelona. Speed limits are generally 50 km/hour in town, 90 km/hour outside of town, but may be up to 100 km/hour in the following situations:
a) 1-way roads,
b) roads with three lanes or more, or
c) roads with shoulders at least 1.5 m in width.
Look for the little red, circular speed limit signs as they will be posted near the roads.
Airport Amenities.....
Besides renting cars, the airport also provides various passenger services. Included in this are a couple of shops and souvenir stores. There are also a couple of cafeteria type restaurants in the passengers arrivals and departures public space.
There are about five hotels that are situated near the airport. They include the Hotel Gaudi, Hotel Quality Reus, Hotel Ciutat de Reus, Hotel Regente Aragon, and Hotel Ciutat de Tarragona.

From the airport, it is about only about 5 km's to the city center of Reus.
